Belonging, Access and Opportunity

The Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association values belonging, access and opportunity for all. Our professional development events are open to anyone working in public relations, exploring a related field, or interested in learning more about our profession and chapter.

We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment where current and future members, speakers and guests feel included, respected, valued and empowered to grow professionally and socially through the chapter’s programs, connections and opportunities.

In 2023, the Ocala Chapter board unanimously voted and implemented our IDEA (Involvement, Distinction, Evenness, Accessibility) chair position.  This chair position is responsible for the ensuring the following:

  1. Involvement by working to be supportive of different groups of individuals.
  2. Distinction – Ensuring that the chapter embraces all members and prospective members, and enables them to make meaningful contributions to the chapter and FPRA at a State level.
  3. Evenness – Committed to creating a welcoming culture where all members feel seen, heard and respected.
  4. Accessibility is the design, construction, development and maintenance of location, information and communication technology, programs and services so that all people, including people with disabilities, can fully and independently use them.

Our Commitment to Belonging, Access and Opportunity

We recognize that a strong chapter is built through people with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and talents. These differences strengthen our association, expand our understanding and help us better serve our profession and communities. We are committed to ensuring all voices are welcomed, respected and valued, and that every individual has the opportunity to contribute and grow.

Access as a Core Value

Accessibility is central to our commitment. We strive to create an environment where individuals have fair access to opportunities, resources, leadership pathways and professional development. We continuously work to identify and remove barriers that may limit participation or advancement within our organization and the broader public relations profession.

We are dedicated to fostering a culture where every member feels they belong and where their ideas, experiences and contributions are valued. By embracing a wide range of perspectives, we strengthen our chapter and inspire innovation across the communications field.

Supporting Member Success

We believe it is our responsibility to provide members with trusted resources, relevant continuing education and meaningful connections to help them thrive in an ever-evolving communications landscape. We also remain committed to cultivating broad representation in our programming, leadership and membership.
