When it comes to leading\, though\, timid personalities often emerge\, diminishing the leadership stream to a trickle. \nThis month\, former FPRA Ocala Chapter Presidents Lauren Deiorio; Toni James\, APR\, CPRC; and Carole Savage Hagans\, APR\, CPRC share insight and perspective into steering the ship and manning the helm when it comes to all-things FPRA. \nYou will discover what lasting leadership is like\, what it takes\, and how the process grows you personally\, professionally\, and individually. Learn why stepping up and out opens doors\, creates new opportunities and propels your confidence to higher levels. \nLeadership is not for everyone.  Is it for you? Join us to learn more. \n  \nThe Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will hold its monthly professional development meeting in-person at the Community Foundation building (in the training room)\,  324 SE 24th St.\, Ocala. \nNote the change in meeting location. Unfortunately\, the College of Central Florida was not available on this date. We also changed the date of the meeting to the fourth Friday of the month because of spring break. We appreciate your flexibility. \nThe cost to attend the in-person meeting is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. SUMMARY:Second Chances Program: Behind the Scenes
DESCRIPTION:Break out your jeans and boots and bring some carrots and apples.\nPlease join us on Wednesday\, March 30\, from 2-3:30 p.m.\, for a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the Second Chances program at the Lowell Correctional Institution near Ocala. \nThrough the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation\, the Second Chances program partners retired thoroughbreds with women inmates. The women learn lifelong lessons and equine skills – giving them career opportunities once released from prison – and the thoroughbreds get a forever home at the on-site farm.   \nDuring the 1.5-hour field trip\, FPRA Ocala Chapter president-elect Tammy A. Gantt will provide an overview of her public relations efforts to support the program\, and attendees will meet the horses up close. \nSpecial clearance is required to enter the prison grounds and specific directions for entry will be sent along. Please RSVP by March 15 by registering now.  \nThe event is free\, and light snacks will be served. \nWear comfortable clothing appropriate for outdoors and closed-toe walking shoes.
