Her go-to words include “onward” and “be bold.” She has worked in a leadership and mentoring capacity with nonprofits\, financial institutions\, arts organizations\, televised and other high profile events\, higher education institutions\, start-ups\, individual executives\, and now hospitality. \nBefore joining the HDG Hotels team\, Lisa worked in roles such as the Director of Development at the CF Foundation and Campaign Counsel for the Central Florida Y’s DeLuca YMCA\, helping each raise their single largest charitable gifts at that time. As a consultant\, she worked with a diverse roster of clients including Broadway based organizations; which fed her passion for the performing arts – a lifelong love that also motivated her co-founding a performing arts conservatory. She has also led organizations through overhauls of mission statements\, global brand launches\, conducted board development trainings\, and represented brands throughout the state of Florida\, nationally and internationally through partnerships such as the LPGA. \nWhen asked what motivates her\, she answers\, “People.” She believes the first step toward progress is having clarity of purpose – knowing your “why”. As HDG’s Chief People and Culture Officer\, she leads all things “engagement”. Internally\, that means making sure the team members we onboard feel on board\, especially with our vision\, mission\, and core values. Externally\, that includes representing HDG within the industry\, in government affairs\, communications\, and community outreach. Lisa received a bachelor of arts in Communication Studies from Furman University in Greenville\, South Carolina\, and a master of arts in Public Administration from the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Spontak will provide insights on how the coalition increased public awareness\, engagement and support for reconnecting the Ocklawaha River to the Silver and St. Johns rivers and Silver Springs. This work won the Free the Ocklawaha Coalition the Ocala Chapter’s 2022 Wilton F. Silver Springs Blvd.\, in Ocala\, on Friday\, Aug. 19\, from noon-1 p.m.\, with networking starting at 11:30 a.m. \nDuring the “Starting Gate” event\, we will showcase our present\, including bestowing our 2022 PACEsetter of the Year Award\, honor our Ocala Chapter past presidents during a gavel-passing ceremony and celebrate our future with the installation of our new 2022-2023 FPRA Ocala Chapter board. \nThe event will also include leadership insights from Jay Morgan-Schleuning\, APR\, CPRC\, the 2022-2023 state association president. Morgan-Schleuning is a principal at Authentic Reputations\, managing stakeholder relations and strategic communications. He specializes in providing strategic communications\, public relations\, marketing\, branding and reputation counsel to associations and nonprofits. \nPrior to his work at Authentic Reputations\, Morgan-Schleuning served in a variety of communications roles for ARC of Florida\, Florida Chamber of Commerce\, Visit Florida and the American Heart Association. He also worked as an on-air TV news anchor and reporter in several media markets\, including Orlando. \nThe cost to attend the “Starting Gate” in-person event is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. DESCRIPTION:Speaking Out and Shutting Down: How Florida Regulates Social Media and Political Speech\nThursday\, June 16 | 11:30 a.m. Networking | noon – 1 p.m. Presentation \nThe Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will hold its monthly professional development meeting at the College of Central Florida Ocala Campus on Thursday\, June 16\, from noon-1 p.m.\, with networking starting at 11:30 a.m.  \nClay Calvert knows a thing or two about social media. In fact\, he’s gained vast experience with it given his Juris Doctor degree with Great Distinction from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law and a Ph.D. in Communication from Stanford University. This month\, he talks to FPRA Ocala about “Speaking Out and Shutting Down: How Florida Regulates Social Media and Political Speech.” \nCalvert is a Brechner Eminent Scholar in Mass Communication at the University of Florida’s Department of Journalism. He is director of the Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project at UF and authored several briefs with the United States Supreme Court. \nLast year\, he was named UF’s Teacher/Scholar of the Year and became the College of Journalism and Communication’s first member ever to win the most prestigious and oldest faculty award at UF. \nA published author many times over\, Calvert presented a TEDxUF regarding cameras and cops and contributes regularly to law journals and scholarly publications around the country. \n  \nThe cost to attend the in-person meeting is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
