PResident's Perspective - September 2014

lowe_jeniferI am excited to kick-off the 2014-2015 chapter year with a (theoretical) bonfire. Many of us – 29% of our chapter – have recently returned from FPRA Annual Conference with a renewed purpose, passion and inspiration for our careers. We will call this a spark. To turn a spark into a flame, you must have kindling. What will we use to kindle our fire? Brainstorming, research, planning, creativity and networking with peers are elements that will IGNITE a fire in your professional life.

Perhaps you have worked for the same employer on the same projects for many years and feel a little burned out. Maybe you are settling in to a new job and working on collecting firewood. Some of us are still looking for a (work)place to set up camp. No matter where you are in your career, something you certainly need is passion to succeed. I challenge you to approach everything you do with motivation to get the best results possible. From designing a simple brochure in Microsoft Publisher to securing a million dollar sponsorship, attack your task with intensity.

As your chapter leader, my commitment to you is that I will take my flame and ignite yours. Your chapter board will provide you with all the kindling you need to turn your spark into a flame and set your career on fire this year. At our board retreat, we will discuss member survey results and set goals and objectives. More on that at our September luncheon! Check out our newly redesigned chapter website for a full list of board members serving the Ocala Chapter this year.

On fire for FPRA,
Jenifer Lowe, Ocala Chapter President
