PResident's Perspective by Kevin Christian, APR, CPRC

July is HOT, HOT, HOT

This month’s professional development meeting is jam-packed with important components! Don’t believe me?

Consider this for starters: 2014 Communicators of the Year! Yes, we’ll announce the recipients for individual and institutional honors for outstanding communication practices. As in years past, the competition was fierce for these prestigious tributes.

Not convinced yet? Then what about learning from a two-time Emmy®-award winning videographer who makes his home right here in our own backyard?

Still a naysayer? The cherry on our Sundae is the launch the revamped FPRAOcala.org website with a “live” reveal to everyone in attendance. Hand-held technology will be provided to every attendee (you must return it!) so we all see the new site at the same time. Face-to-face feedback is what we want, and you have the opportunity to provide this based on first impressions. As we all know, first impressions often are the most powerful and persuading.

ChrisandGoProAs if all this wasn’t enough incentive, State President Chris Gent, APR, CPRC is our special guest and he comes bearing a gift – a camcorder for one of us lucky enough to draw the winning number. This meeting is a GREAT example of the benefits you enjoy as a member of our local FPRA chapter. Know someone else who can also benefit? Invite them as your guest.

Until next month, continue to #ThinkFPRA!

Meet Ryan Kirby

He may be new to the job and new to our chapter, but Ryan has been exercising his PR skills in the academic setting before taking his new position with the City of Ocala. Get the details in this month’s Member Profile.

June Highlights

Last month’s luncheon boasted a record number of guests who got an earful from UF’s Prof. Sandra Chance about “Copyrights vs. Copy Wrong.” Check out the scene on our Gallery.
