PResident's Perspective

How many times have you heard someone say, “I never received informationLaurenDeiorio04PP
about that event,” or “I didn’t realize the deadline for that form was today?” I decided after hearing those words from some of our FPRA members that it might be time to come up with a new way to communicate with membership and figured a daily email would be the best option. I started reflecting on what I like to see in emails and found that brief emails that are to the point work best. If I was interested in the content of the message, then I would find more information, find a web address, or find a hyperlink embedded in the email. My emails to the chapter started sometime in Mid- March, and so far things seem to working very well. I promise to keep the messages brief but full of important dates, times, & links to additional information. Stay tuned.
This month the Ocala Chapter will be hosting the 2017 Mid-Florida Local Image Awards on Thursday, April 27th. With a theme like “Wanted: Excellence in Public Relations” you can bet we are going to have a Wild West kind of an evening. With 17 entries submitted to the judges, anticipation is building to see who will walk home with an award. We will also be celebrating those individuals and institutions who have been nominated for the Wilton F. Martin Communication of the Year Award. This Award recognizes those who have demonstrated excellence in strategic communications to improve the quality of life in Marion County and the nominations are rolling in. Along with all of that excitement, there is one other surprise I have up my sleeve for our chapter, but you will have to attend the Image Gala to see just what it is. Image tickets are now available so get your tickets now before they ride off into the sunset.

Mission Membership

members-mpkmk37m6f7nmsfe4pzt59kelqvavarvtfug3z1pm0Who is your go-to? You know, the vendors/partners you rely on to make your PR/Communications job easier…maybe the person you call on to design your collateral, your photographer, printer or caterer? Do you know someone in an allied field of the public relations profession who might be interested in the activities of FPRA? If you have someone in mind, why not invite him/her to join FPRA? Or pass the names along to me, so I can contact them! At the very least, let’s invite them to our luncheon so they can experience some of the benefits our organization provides. It’s a great network of potential business for them and a wonderful resource for our members to have reliable sources for needed services.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in anyway:; call or text: 352-484-9091.
