The word I want to focus on this month as we move into the New Year is strategy.
As PR Professionals we know how important strategy can be when planning a campaign but I encourage you to think beyond individual projects and instead think about how you are going to strategize to hit both personal and professional goals in 2019.
There are many ways to be active in FPRA and having a strategic plan can be useful because you can map out what you are going to work on and when.
Here is a sample strategy for 2019 as it relates to FPRA:
Q1 2019-Think about a project(s) you would like to submit for an Image award and complete your entry. More information will be coming soon about this. Also, begin thinking about leadership opportunities you want to take advantage of throughout the year. Some examples include the LeadershipFPRA program and serving on the board.
Q2 2019-Attend the FPRA Ocala Regional Summit May 2 & 3 for a day and a half long event for professional development.
Q3 2019- Want to take your career to the next level? Consider getting your accreditation in public relations or becoming a certified public relations counselor. Reach out to our Accreditation Chair, Kevin Christian, APR, CPRC for more information! Kevin.Christian@marion.k12.fl.us.
Q4 2019- Talk to non-member colleagues about joining the Ocala Chapter and look for ways to get involved and active in FPRA.
I hope 2019 is the best year yet for each and every one of you as it relates to personal and professional accomplishments. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or want more information about anything mentioned above.

Get Fired Up but Don’t Burn Out!
In today’s tumultuous world, stress and burnout is a constant issue. This program identifies the signs of burnout and how to stop burn-out and reduce stress by building a more balanced life using the Life Triad concepts. It is designed to help you discover how to fire up your life with tips and techniques that will make you more effective at work and home all while having more fun and fulfillment. The presentation will clear up the myth of “work-life balance” and show how true Life Balance is doable in today’s world.
Dan Gentry is the President of Third Power Performance, a life transformational company focused on helping high achievers maximize their potential while maintaining life balance. He takes his 30 years of experience in software and systems development, adds in 20 years in management experience in companies from small local businesses up to Fortune 10 companies, mixes in a lifetime of the study of self-improvement, and finally adds a large pinch of humor to create remarkable experiences for his audiences.
Dan is an Air Force veteran and an entrepreneur that owns several companies in the technology and insurance fields. He is the author of “99 Steps Towards Life Balance”, and has another book due out this summer.
Over the past 10 years, Dan has been helping companies from the Fortune 10 to one-person entrepreneurs create success and Life Balance. He has helped large virtual telecommuting teams create cohesion, small company teams deal with overload and individual business owners recover their sense of purpose.
Dan is married and has five children. He lives in Central Florida with his wife and two young sons that are still at home.
