As I complete my third time serving as president of the FPRA Ocala Chapter, I knew I wanted a theme to guide the year that encompassed how I felt assuming this role. My first experience, I was so young and early in my career, I wasn’t completely sure what I was doing. The second time around was somewhat forced since the president-elect couldn’t step up. Years passed, our chapter has grown, in numbers and strength of services. I am at a much more stable point in my life. I’m finding with age comes confidnce in your ability to speak up, achieve and delegate–to be BOLD! Therefore, BOLD became my mantra for the year. With boldness, I present this outstanding chapter as the Chapter of the Year for the Florida Public Relations Association.

With BOLD strategies and tactics, three top objectives set by the 2017-2018 board were exceeded:

1. Reach 55 members by August 31, 2018

EXCEEDED – The Ocala Chapter currently has 60 professional

and two student members, a first in our Chapter’s history.

2. Strengthen FPRA Brand Locally as measured by community participation in events.

EXCEEDED – 22% of Image/Communicator of the Year attendees responding stated the

event reinforced their favorable opinion of the Association, 11% were

impressed as they learned of the Association for the first time and 40%

said the event made them feel proud to be members of FPRA. Attendance

at the annual Toolkit event was 50% nonmembers and one of those joined

as a result.

3. Secure a Solid Leadership Stream for 2018-2019

ACHIEVED – The annual challenge of setting the board slate is complete with members

in queue with mentors preparing them for their next role.

These are just the top highlights to justify the Ocala Chapter’s selection as Chapter of the Year!
